“Sole oscillates between being nostalgic and contemporary, sometimes within the same song, because the way we listen influences the way we write. All the songs are concerned with isolation either within a subgroup, or between individuals. As a result, sometimes it’s extroverted, and sometimes it’s introverted. Yet more great music from Perth, Western Australia, this is a funky, languidly confident EP, shot through with elements of lounge, fun, jazz and hip-hop. Genre-hopping with ease, GBC display considerable musical skill, both in composition and execution. The songs blend together almost seamlessly, despite the shifts in mood, and if I have a gripe, it's only that I wish there was more of it! This is a breeze. Enjoy its cool. Michael Mueller
